A lot has changed in the past few months since we've posted on our blog, but one thing that hasn't changed is that TV is still king---even in this digital age. We are excited to share with you all some new educational content we recently recorded (hence the delay in posts as of lately) in our Harvest Growth Marketing video series.
Harvest Growth's Founder and CEO Jon LaClare explains in just under four minutes how advertising through direct response television is still one of the most effective AND affordable ways for a majority of new products or services to go to market.
There is a common misconception that online advertising is the most cost efficient medium and that national TV is way too expensive to even consider as an option, especially if your product/service is brand new.
We have found that if you want to take your product/service to market, build awareness, make a profit, AND receive immediate results from consumers, then advertising through direct response television is what you need. Within a matter of weeks you will get immediate insight in to your consumers willingness to buy. Better yet, the return on your advertising investment can lead to actually making you money and essentially result in not costing you a dime to advertise.
With digital advertising however, it can take a few months to a year before you start to see any of those dollars turn into an actual profit. You won't truly receive full consumer insight until your online campaign has optimized, which on average can take approximately 3 months. Then, for example, let's say you find out you need to tweak who your targeting based on these results. Well, there goes another 3-6 months to prove that is the right move. Before you know it, its year 2 and you haven't come close to breaking even on your online marketing investment.
Now don't take this post wrong, we totally believe that there is a place and a methodology where online advertising is key. In fact, we believe it is a big piece of the puzzle for sustaining growth AFTER you have launched, tested, and obtained healthy awareness of your brand. In addition, not all products or services are a good fit for direct response TV. But for those that are, we have seen many of our clients take their business from zero to hero in a matter of months through DRTV.
